Zaanstad * De vier oud-brandweer-commandanten die willen proberen om blusboot De Weer in de Zaan-streek te houden, zijn blij dat de boot nog drie maanden voor anker blift liggen. Het kwartet heeft van de gementeraad drie maanden de tijd gekregen om een plan te maken en de kosten en baten op een rijtje te zetten.
„We hadden het eigenlijk helemaal niet meer verwacht”, zegt oud-com-mandant van Krommenie Rein Wasscher. Met Piet Hermanides (Zaan-dam-Oost), Dirk Vels (Krommenie) en Han Eelman (Wormerveer) pak-ken ze de draad weer op om te kijken of de blusboot als toeristische attrac-tie kan worden ingezet. Het schip is door de Veiligheidsregio uit de vaart genomen vanwege bezuinigingen.
Donderdag steunde de raad een mo-tie van Jan de Vries (D66) om de over-dracht naar het veiligheidsmuseum PIT in Almere even uit te stellen om burgerinitiatief een kans te geven.
*We gaan nu snel aan de slag. We hebben begrepen dat de Veiligheids-regio de boot een voor ons nog onbe-kend bedrag meegeeft aan het PIT.
Wij vragen ons af, of wij daar ook over kunnen beschikken?”
Wat verder een rol speelt is inzichtelijk te maken voor welke evenementen de boot nog kan worden gebruikt. Of deze nu wel of niet naar het PIT gaat, de blusboot zou in elk geval beschikbaar moeten blijven voor de intocht van Sinterklaas.
“Dat zou super zijn”, zegt voorzit-ter Eric Schaft van Sint Intocht Zaandam, die de boot geregeld in-zet; inclusief ‘bluspieten.
